Koralan® wood oil products make all the difference

Pursuant to Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/1399 of 10 November 2023, from 22 August 2024, only treated solid wood may be used for wall and ceiling cladding, provided its fire performance classification has been verified through individual testing.

Distributors of wall and ceiling coverings are responsible for declaring the fire behavior of treated wood products as part of accurate documentation of performance characteristics.

Though exempt from testing requirements, as manufacturers of KORA® wood protection products (such as glazes, paints, and impregnating salts), we investigated this issue using our product Koralan® Wood Oil Special and commissioned testing in 2024.

Testing by an accredited institute in accordance with EN 13823:2020 (SBI test) and EN ISO 11925-2:2020 (flammability) with results evaluated in accordance with EN 13501-1:2018 (classification) demonstrate that correct application of Koralan® wood oil family products (Koralan® Holzöl Spezial - Wood Oil Special, Holzöl - Wood Oil, Vergrauungslasur - Greying Scumble, Color-Lasur - Colour Scumble, UL 100, UL 110 and Designlasur - Design Scumble) does not negatively impact fire performance. The fire classification remains Class D - s2, d0, identical to untreated wood.
